Used Car Trade-in Values Information – Questions Answered

Mandy asks…

What will get me a better trade-in value for my old car?? Buying a New Car or a used one?

Thanks for your answers.

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

A agree with the 2 above but to answer your question they are going to show you more for your trade on a used simply because a used car has more markup the actual cash value of your car is the same on either one its just that a dealer can show more on a used

Ken asks…

what is “Trade-In Value ” when buying a used car ?

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

It simply is what the dealer gives you for your car…. The market value or actual cash value is something else though and they are usually not the same. The trade in value can be manipulated by the dealer or negotiated on. Also the many sites out their that supposedly give values do not buy cars, the only real value is what someone will pay for it. Go to a Carmax store, they will give you a written offer for your car and I doubt any other dealer will come close. The great part is they will buy your car even if you don’t buy one of theirs

Laura asks…

What has been your best negotion price for a new or used car ?

My Wife and I recently were able to practically negotiate a thousand dollars off the price of a new used car and get a higher trade in value on our old car .
Wonder what has been your best deal you have ever negotiated for a new or used car ?

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

I managed to get a £1000 off a used car. It’s actually not that difficult when you know that the car is overpriced anyway, and you can prove that your offer is more realistic. You can also use techniques whereby you can suss out how desperate the seller is for a cash sale. You can often knock these people’s prices down by the walk away technique. At the end of the day, if there appear to be no other takers, you can almost name your price as the buyer.
