New Car Rebates And Incentives Information – Questions Answered

Sandy asks…

dealer markdowns on new cars in the fall?

Do auto dealerships really mark down new cars in the fall to make room for the new coming years inventory?

I am considering buying a new Ford Fusion and I have been told that in the fall is the best time to buy one, because of all the markdowns and rebate incentives, to get the current year cars off the lot for the upcoming year cars. Like this fall they would be doing sales to get the 2007′s off to make room for the 2008′s

Is this really true?

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

Just to add, yes it is true. My friend got his CUV that way. He bought the previous year’s model for less than sticker because the new ones were already sitting on the lot.

Fordman that is very generous. The X plan is for friends and family of Ford workers. It saves you $$$ on purchasing new vehicles. I don’t think it will matter when you purchase the vehicle with an X plan though.

Thomas asks…

Should I buy new 2008 Pacifica or keep 2006 Trail Blazer?

I have been considering a new 2008 loaded Pacifica at a local dealer. Normally, I don’t buy new cars but with the rebates and incentives, it might be worth while. Here’s my situation though: I currently have a 2006 Trail Blazer with 5 years left to pay at $417 a month. I can buy the Pacifica with a sticker of $34645 for $25,977 + tax and title. Here’s the issue though. I am upside down in my Trail Blazer, when using it as a trade-in, by about $8,000 (I was upside down on it due to trading in a full size Chevy van gas hog when gas was over $4.00). So, if I put $2000 down on the Pacifica and trade in the Trail Blazer, I will have a $570 car payment for 72 months. I already have 60,000 miles on the Trail Blazer and, obviously, the Pacifica has near zero. My quandry is this: As I try to compare the next three years with each of these vehicles, I’m trying to decide how I will come out better. While the Pacifica is a lot more vehicle than the Trail Blazer, I don’t want to make an emotional decision. I’m looking for opinions on which vehicle will serve me best and put me in the best financial position in, say three years. The Pacifica has a lifetime drive train warranty, which is to be considered and, of course, the Trail Blazer has no warranty left so possible repairs would need to be considered. Any suggestions?

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

Keep the blazer. Pacifica’s are not reliable. And you cant be sure of the life time warranty since they just file for bankruptcy.

Linda asks…

I signed a new car contract but dealer has been unable to find car I want.?

Went in last Wed – nice sales person – wrote up contract and wrote on contract car will be delivered ASAP. One week later and still no car, the incentives of 2.9 finance and rebate will be expired on 6/30. Told him no deal if incentives are expired – he said that he’d get corporate to put something in writting and will try to get them to send him a car. MEanwhile still no answer. Also I found the car online 200 miles away (even cheaper than current dealer with more accessories) and would like to go buy this one…what can I do?
UPDATE:

dealer apologized and said I could walk away and to make up for any inconvenience he offered me a couple of deals on cars he has on the lot that I might take him up on.

thanks for all your replies…

CSC101 Customer Service answers:

Some dealers now have the zero % financing. Send a certified letter, return receipt requested, to the salesperson stating you are canceling the contract just to CYA.. ASAP is never acceptable in a contract. It must have a specific date or it can never be enforced because no one has the authority to determine when possible is
Just like an IOU saying I will pay when I can is never enforcible since it cannot usually be proven when they “CAN” repay.
