Did I Get Ripped Off? Cash for CLunkers!?
Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2009, MSRP (17,640) Destination (720) and 1500 cash back according to the Mitsu website.
Had a 3500 clunker to trade in. Car also had 510miles bc it was driven from another dealer. Last ES on the lot and literally minutes before the “Cash for Clunkers” ended on Monday at 8pm.
Out the door price was 15,200 (-3500 included) with 1.9% financing for 60months. What do you think?????
My first car and was pretty bad at negotiating and im feeling skeptical, normal i guess!!!! What phases me is that edmunds, yahoo, msn have the TMV prices around 16,500, so you minus the 3500…i shoulda gotten it for 13k right?

Sorry man but you shouldn’t have paid msrp for that right now, look at it this way , the msrp is to high for the economy, but you had the trade in voucher 3500 $ – if you would have waited the car value ( lancer ) might have gone up to the msrp and you wouldn’t have had the voucher (3500$) – so about the same – my whole point about this cars program is that in order to get the extra couple of thousand more than your car is worth, you have to take on car payments ( 10 K $ + ) so if you drove your car for another year and saved what you would be spending on new car payments you would have more money and an old car !

On their website is it the blackbook thing under trade-in? I’m so confused.

This website has all the info you need. All the major dealerships are participating. Just take your car to the dealer, and they’ll let you know how much you qualify for under the program.
