How could conservatives possibly call the cash for clunkers program a failure?
They got a huge number of people into dealerships where they are sold vehicles. Many of the new car sales were made to people who didn’t qualify, but just decided it was time.
How could this possibly be a failure?

Because it sucked almost a billion dollars out of the Stimulus package in just 1 week. Probably 90%+ of the $4500 refunds were fraudulent. I just got a notice from a dealer stating that their research on my late model car which gets about 27 / 32MPG could qualify as a “clunker” and I could get the $4500. It was of course addressed to “Resident” My wife thought it was hilarious. It only makes a person wonder how much of the trillions in Obama spending is going to the wrong people at lightning speed?

The tax payer will be footing the bill once again, if the government ever pays the dealers. Now that everyone who wanted to trade has, no one will buy a car now, so the industry will suffer even more.

Cash For Clunkers A Failure?
Makes perfect fricken sense.
Let the government be in control. People are starving and homeless on my street. My brother with 3 kids is unemployed.
But suddenly, let’s start cash for clunkers.
You give us your car worth anywhere from $200 and up (must have owned it for 6 months, and it must drive) and we will give you $4,500. That is not enough thouge. We will give you a NEW free car.
They are saying this program is a big success. Really? I would like free money… but wait, it’s coming from my wallet.
Sink or swim. My small business, I had to lay of 6 jobs. If I can’t pay my bill, I am screwed. If the car companies can’t the government hands out FREE CARS. Ford is reporting a big profit due to this program… but the government is paying for it.
It helps the enviroment? BS. Al Gore says that temperatures in the past 20 years were the hottest ever recorded. Well, we have only been monitoring weather for 200 years, and recording it. So, in those 200 years, we experience Global Cooling. Global Warming. Global Cooling, up to the 70′s, and now Global Warming.
There isn’t going to be an enviroment to protect if North Korea still has it’s nuclear program.
Answer this truthfully. Not on party lines. Some of you are so blinded by your party, that you are not open to the common sense. I’ll admit I do this sometimes. I hear a democratic view like abortion, and completley block it out of my mind no matter what you say. But after oppening my eyes, I have seen both sides, and reevaluated my opinion. So answer this truthfully. What is so great about this

There are no free cars.
You have to have registered and insured the clunker car for the past 12 months.
